The Motorola Xoom is an Android-based tablet computer by Motorola, introduced at CES 2011 on January 5, 2011. It will be the first tablet to run Android 3.0 Honeycomb.The Motorola Xoom supports up to 1080p video playback and Adobe Flash. It features a 2 MP front-facing camera for video chatting over Wi-Fi or cellular Internet and a rear-facing 5 MP camera that records 720p video. The Xoom has a 1280×800 widescreen, 10.1-inch display and 3D graphics acceleration, as well as HDMI-out. It features a variety of sensors, including a gyroscope, a magnetometer, an accelerometer and a barometer. The Xoom uses Nvidia Tegra 2 SoC. In January it was reported that the Xoom will come in a Wi-Fi only model as well as a 3G model through Verizon Wireless. Motorola Xoom supports up to 10 hours of video playback, and charges in half the time of competitive tablets on the market.

ReplyDeleteThe hype on this device is way overblown. There are plenty of other dual core Tegra based tablets with very similar specs that will be able to run Honeycomb (Android 3.0) when it becomes available.
